What is Virtual PBX?Asterisk is the world’s leading open source telephony engine and tool kit. Offering flexibility unheard of in the world of proprietary communications, Asterisk empowers developers and integrators to create advanced communication solutions...for free. PBX stands for public branch exchange. It is a machine that handles your telephone calls for you. Its main functions are to transfer calls to different individual phones; play music when somebody is put on hold; to play automatic voice responses when a call is received; to provide an options menu for the caller…etc. A PBX machine and integrated system is very expensive to buy, install and run. Typical costs for a package can range from £5,000 to £15,000, depending on the size of the network required, plus a yearly maintenance contract ranging from £500 to £7000 per year. All these expenses can be cut down to virtually nothing by using a virtual PBX system from D2M network and office solutions. Our systems offer all the functions of a PBX but removes the need for installed hardware. This eliminates the cost of engineer call out fees if you ever need to make some changes to your system, increases the flexibility of expanding functions, and reduces extra installation fees if you ever move premises.
Q1. Why would you choose to use a Virtual PBX rather than a physical call management system (traditional PBX)? It is much cheaper to set up and cheaper to run and maintain. It also takes much less time for a virtual PBX system to be set up because it is “virtual” so there are no cables that need to be laid out or hardware to be installed. It has all the benefits of a PBX system but removes the problems and inconvenience of hardware. Q2. What is the difference between a Virtual PBX and a traditional PBX system? The most obvious difference is the absence of the bulky equipment lying in an air-conditioned room as with a traditional PBX. This helps to cut down the cost significantly. Q3. How does a Virtual PBX system work? Unlike traditional PBX systems with the physical telephone lines, our Virtual PBX works by making the calls over the internet. Q4. Can I link two or more offices (in different locations) together under one system? Yes, you can because Virtual PBX does not use the physical phone lines, but the telephone numbers to build the system. Therefore as long as each individual site has their internet connection, we can link them all together under one system. Your customers no longer need to remember different numbers for different offices; or no longer need to know that you have separate offices in different locations. As for you, you only need to promote ONE contact telephone number instead of 2 or more telephone numbers for different offices. Q5. What equipment do I need to use Virtual PBX? As long as each of your users has internet access this will facilitate the making and receiving of phone calls then we can build a Virtual PBX for you. Q6. How do I order a Virtual PBX? Contact us (01296768101) then please fill in a VPBX Form and if you are paying monthly complete the D2Mnet Direct Debit mandate, post them back to D2Mnet, 45 Walton Road, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, HP21 7SR. Q7. Is there any minimum contract term? No. You can cancel the service any time you want. However we calculate your usage on a monthly basis. Q8. How much does it cost? A Virtual PBX system from D2Mnet will cost: £350 +VAT per year (includes 0 to 8 numbers or extensions) £500 +VAT per year (includes 8-20 numbers or extensions) £750 +VAT per year (includes 20 to 40 numbers or extensions) Q9. Can I pay monthly? Yes, you have the chose, full amount for the year of £350 +VAT or 12 monthly payments of £35.00 +VAT Q10. Is there a setup fee? Yes, but only on the telephones, not on the system setup, see Q11 Q11. Are telephones included in the price? No, there is such a choice of telephones on the market the telephones are separate, this allows the customer to choose which phones suit their business needs best. Q12. How much are the telephones and what do you recommend as a good telephone for business? The cost of the SIP telephones is between £70 to £165 including VAT setup and delivery. We recommend Grandstream GPX2000, these telephones are £85 each including VAT, setup and delivery. Q13. Can I use any telephones? No, they need to be SIP telephones, or you could use an ATA telephone adapter. Q14. Do I need to buy the telephones through D2Mnet? Yes, we need to set the telephones up on the system before sending them out for you to start using them. Q15. Why are you cheaper than other businesses offering virtual PBX? We also offer the minutes to customers through an online billing system, example: BT to UK mobile maybe 16p per minute, D2Mnet maybe 9p per minute. We may make say 2p per minute, this build up over time covers our extra costs. Q16. Can I use the telephones anywhere? Yes, anywhere you have internet access, i.e. work from home, just plug the telephone to the router. Q17. Can I choose the telephone numbers and how much do they cost? We give you a FREE 0845 number included in the price Q18. So what are the features offered on the system? Asterisk based telephony solutions offer a rich and flexible feature set. Asterisk offers both classical PBX functionality and advanced features, and inter-operates with traditional standards-based telephony systems and Voice over IP systems. Asterisk offers the advanced features that are often associated with large, high end (and high cost) proprietary PBXs. Call Features
